Proverbs 19:2 – Ignorant zeal is worthless; haste makes waste.
Do any of you know people with great Zeal? Some of our zealous friends are awesome; they can really motivate us into action. However zeal without knowledge (revelation) can sometimes be harmful.

For example in Mark 9 the bible gives us a great revelation of God’s heart and perfect will. It speaks to us about a boy that was possessed. This boy had a spirit that would give many symptoms like seizers, foam from the …mouth, and would even throw him in the fires and water to destroy him.

The zealous disciples did what anyone would do – they prayed for him! You would think that since this is a bible story that the boy would miraculously be healed right way, but that wasn’t the case.

So what can we assume? It must have Not been the “Will of God.” That’s a common response for many who pray and don’t see the results they intend to see. As a matter of fact many of the zealous people even change their manner of prayer to “Your Will be done (a truth statement but one that requires little to no faith)” they then tell the person they have just prayed for that they have to have more faith and just trust God.

Please note, never put the blame on the person believing enough to ask for prayer but do as the disciples did: they asked Jesus in private – why could we not drive (cast) it out? In essence they wanted their Revelation to match their Zeal!

So what was the “Will of God” for this boy?

Well Jesus 1st teaches his disciples a lesson – faithless generation (people with a twisted mindset) how long do I need to be with you, put up with this?

Important note: The bible tells us that Jesus is now with us always till the end!!!

2nd He then tells the disciples to bring the boy to Him. He sets the boy free…

Please take note that this was (is) the will of God. Setting people free is His mission, it is his perfect will! It is also what he called the church to do. Look at John 14:12 – Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do…

Lastly, He finishes the lesson by telling the disciples that certain types of responses require fasting and prayer – this is a recipe for revelation! He’s giving the disciples the answer as to WHY? The answer had nothing to do with their faith; it had all to do with what they were failing to see… Prayer and fasting doesn’t move God, but it will move us out of the way so that God can move! The flesh consistently measures the size of the mountain (problem, situation, etc…). The spirit reminds you of how great Your God Is!
